All American Old Time Radio Show Classic

My Favorite Husband Radio Show
Staring Lucille Ball

For a small taste of this great series,
listen to the preview below.

This show comes on CD In MP3 Format

My Favorite Husband premiered as a radio situation comedy on CBS Radio. It starred Lucille Ball and Richard Denning as Liz and George Cooper. In the early episodes, their last name was Cugat. They  lived at 321 Bundy Drive in Sheridan Falls, a fictitious city, and were presented as "two people who live together and like it." The show's main sponsor was Jell-O, and an average of 3 spots for Jell-O were made in each episode, including Lucille Ball's usual sign-on, "Jell-O, everybody!" The program ran from 1948 through 1951, during which time 124 episodes were aired. We have 103 of them for your listening enjoyment.

When three new writers, Bob Carroll, Jr., Madelyn Pugh, and Jess Oppenheimer, took over the writing, they changed the couple's name to Cooper, and remade them into a middle-class couple instead of a well-to-do banker and his socially prominent wife, believing average listeners would find this new persona more accessible. And yes, these are the same writers that helped make I Love Lucy such a classic TV show.

You'll hear real flashes of the comedic genius Lucy showed on her TV show. If you treasure Lucille Ball, you can't miss this early radio work by her. It is pure genius.
