The
Alan Young Show was a radio and television series presented in
diverse formats over a nine-year period and starring
Canadian-English actor Alan Young. It began on NBC radio as a summer
replacement situation comedy in 1944, featuring vocalist Bea Wain.
It moved to ABC with Jean Gillespie portraying Young's girlfriend
Betty. The program was next broadcast by NBC for a 1946-47 run and
was off in 1948. When it returned to NBC in 1949, Louise Erickson
played Betty and Jim Backus was heard as snobbish playboy Hubert
Updike III.
Some
background on Alan Young…..
Alan
Young is an English-Canadian character actor, best known for his
television role in Mister Ed and as the voice of Scrooge McDuck.
During the 1940s and 1950s he starred in his own shows on radio and
television.
Young
was a broadcaster for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. In
1944, he moved to American radio with The Alan Young Show, NBC's
summer replacement for Eddie Cantor. He switched to ABC two years
later, but then returned to NBC. Since 1994, he has played at least
eight characters on the popular radio drama Adventures in Odyssey,
most notably antique dealer Jack Allen.
Young
was featured in the film Chicken Every Sunday in 1949, and the
television version of The Alan Young Show began the following year.
Young also appeared in films, including Androcles and the Lion and
The Time Machine . He is best known, however, for Mister Ed, a CBS
television show which ran from 1961 to 1966. He played the owner of
a talking horse that would talk to no one but him.
There are
over 45 episodes and better then 22 hours of wonderful life and
hilarity with Alan Young….On a personal note, Mr. Ed is my second
favorite show of all time and part of my own DVD collection.

free, NTSC productions. We use only high quality DVD media to
maximize compatibility. The vast majority of DVD players work
fine with our DVD discs. Still, there are some that may
experience problems, this compatibility issue does exist for a
small percentage of older DVD players in use today. |

Radio Show CDs & DVDs: |
The MP3 CDs and DVDs
are playable on any computer with a DVD/CD drive and an MP3
player such as Window Media Player. The CDs will also play in CD
players which accept MP3 files. This includes both home and auto
players. Also, we've found that many DVD players will play MP3
files. The individual episode files have been left accessible so
that they can be transferred to portable devices or CDs for your
convenience. |
